Pre-Review for the Boise Slut Walk
Date: September 30, 2011
Rating: TBD
On Saturday, October 15, 2011, 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm, there is a promotional Slut Walk taking place from Julia Davis Park to the Capital building in Boise, Idaho.  This walk is to raise awareness on the issue of sexual assault.
Last January a Toronto policeman told a class at York University that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.”  This comment caused an outrage among the people in Toronto, and 10 weeks later, a thousand people banded together for the first ever Slut Walk to demonstrate that “the expression of a person’s sexuality is not an invitation to take advantage of it.”
The Boise Slut Walk is open to all ages and all genders.  I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this Walk.  It is said to be an amazing, inspiring, and liberating experience.
Help bring awareness to sexual assault.
The Slut Walk promotes and encourages the idea that “rape is genderless, ageless, classless, and sexless.  It can happen to anyone, anytime, and in any environment, regardless of appearance.”
Stay updated! A follow-up post will be available after October 15.
